Jonathan R. Alger, American University’s 16th president, is an experienced and visionary higher education leader. Known as a national voice in civic engagement, civic education, and civil discourse, he is also a nationally recognized scholar and speaker on higher education policy and law.

President Alger spent the past twelve years as president of James Madison University in Virginia, where he created and implemented a bold and visionary strategic plan focused on engaged learning, community engagement, and civic engagement.

On the walk, explore the evolution of our beautiful campus with "then and now" comparisons of the quad, revisit iconic presidential visits, celebrate historic athletic achievements, and uncover hidden gems of campus history. As you walk, enjoy stations that will let you step into history. Imagine standing where past students, leaders, and athletes once stood, and capture the moment today!
