The purpose of the Inaugural Systemic Violence Summit (SVS) is to bring together diverse groups, including faculty, staff, students, community members, and non-profit organizations, to achieve four objectives: educate, empower, research, and take action. Through empirical and theoretical scholarship, the summit aims to advance understandings of violence committed by the systems, demonstrate ways to strategize and discuss individual responsibility, inspire pivotal, innovative, relevant and useful studies, and conduct dialogue between the AU community with community stakeholders, advocates, practitioners, and the public to build sustainable connections and meaningful action. SVS 2023 focuses on systemic violence committed by police officers in the United States.
